Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 October 2026

These Terms explain the rules for using Hifz Mastery. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Hifz Mastery mobile app and related website (together, the “Service”), operated by Waseelah Ltd (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. These Terms are not legal advice.

2. Using the App

  • We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial Qur’an revision.
  • You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, interfere with or overload our servers, try to access other users’ data or admin functions, or use the Service to submit unlawful, abusive or misleading content.
  • If you are under 18, please use the app with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.

3. Your Account

  • The app creates an anonymous account for your device automatically. You may link an email address so you can restore your progress on another device.
  • You are responsible for activity on your device and for keeping any linked email account secure. An anonymous account that is never linked to an email cannot be recovered if you lose the device or uninstall the app.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or as described at hifzmastery.app/delete-account.

4. Your Content and Suggestions

“Your Content” means what you submit through the Service, such as messages to us and mutashabihat group suggestions (titles, descriptions and verse references).

  • You keep any rights you have in Your Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and sublicensable licence to use, store, review, edit, adapt, display and distribute Your Content as needed to operate, improve and promote the Service — including adding an approved suggestion (in original or edited form) to the shared catalogue shown to all users, without attribution or payment to you.
  • You confirm that you have the right to submit Your Content and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights. We may decline, edit or remove any suggestion or message at our discretion.
  • Your progress data (logs, mistakes, bookmarks and similar) remains yours; we use it only to provide the Service as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Qur’anic Text and Third-Party Materials

The Qur’anic text, translations, tafsir, fonts and recitation audio in the app come from third-party sources and are used under their respective licences or terms. Some material, such as recitation audio and certain Mushaf fonts, is loaded from third-party servers and may be unavailable at times. Those materials remain the property of their owners.

6. Recitation Accuracy — No Substitute for a Teacher

Follow-along tracking, speech recognition, mistake logging, strength ratings and revision schedules are study aids. They rely on automatic speech recognition and algorithms that can be wrong or incomplete: they may miss errors, flag correct recitation, or lose your place. We give no warranty as to the accuracy of recitation tracking or of any tajwīd, memorisation or revision guidance. The app is not a replacement for a qualified teacher, and you should not rely on it to confirm that your recitation is correct.

7. Availability and Changes

We may update, change or discontinue features, and the Service may be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may release updates over the air or through the app stores. Cloud features need an internet connection.

8. No Warranty

Except as set out in these Terms, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not give any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that data will never be lost. Nothing in these Terms affects any rights you have as a consumer under applicable law that cannot be excluded.

9. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of data, loss of progress, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of £50 and the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim (the app is currently free).

10. Termination

  • You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account as described above.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service or put other users or the Service at risk. If we do, you can still request a copy of your data by contacting us.
  • Sections that by their nature should continue (including Your Content licence for material already incorporated into the shared catalogue, disclaimers, liability and governing law) survive termination.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will publish the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising from them or the Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and nothing here removes mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
