Study Mutashabihat

The verses that blur into each other

Nearly-identical ayat can challenge anyone. Hifz Mastery groups the mutashabihat side by side and highlights exactly what changes - a single letter, a swapped ending - so you memorise the difference, not just the verse.

  • Differences highlighted for easy comparison
  • View on the mushaf page to picture where they are
  • Study mutashabihat, then test yourself
Test yourself

How strong is your hifz?

Try this little quiz on mutashabihat - many huffaz struggle with it.

This quiz tests mutashabihat across the full Qur'an - but everyone is welcome to try it anyway!

Mistake logging

Every slip, trackable

Double-tap any verse and tap Log Mistake. Highlight exactly where you slipped and what type of mistake it was. Actively recognising and processing your mistakes helps you learn from them. Saved to your mistakes library, ready to help when you review that quarter again.

  • Highlight the exact word you slipped on
  • Tag the type — mutashabihat, missed word, wrong letter
  • Saved to your mistakes library for next time
Hifz Mastery — double-tapping a verse opens Log mistake, Add to Mutashabihat, Listen, Verse Info and Copy verse

Follow-along recitation

Recite hands-free. The page keeps up.

Open the mushaf, start reciting, and put the phone down. Hifz Mastery listens and tracks your position on the page — highlighting the line you're on and scrolling ahead so you can take a quick glance to see if you're on the right track. Useful when you're reciting while walking, driving, or cooking.

Why revision matters

The Prophet ﷺ on guarding what you memorise

The Prophet ﷺ said: “It is a bad thing that some of you say, ‘I have forgotten such-and-such verse of the Qur'an,’ for indeed, he has been caused (by Allah) to forget it. So you must keep on reciting the Qur'an because it escapes from the hearts of men faster than camels do.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5032

تَعَاهَدُوا الْقُرْآنَ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَهُوَ أَشَدُّ تَفَصِّيًا مِنَ الْإِبِلِ فِي عُقُلِهَا

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Commit yourself to the Qur'an, for by Him in Whose Hand is my soul, it is surely more prone to break away than a camel in its bind.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5033
Why I built this

I recited almost every day. My memorisation still wasn't mastered.

Revising in order, start to finish, meant weak quarters stayed weak, usually because of mutashabihat (similar verses) tripping me up. I knew dedicating more time and repeating weak sections was the solution, but it just didn't happen. Spaced repetition and active recall are proven to fix exactly this. So I built the system I needed: recite, log mistakes, and let the app surface what's due — with a dedicated Strengthen tab for testing yourself on mutashabihat.

Currently testing — almost ready
